No Place To Call Home: The new face of homelessness in Australia

ABC’s Four Corners’ Louise Milligan explores the new face of homelessness with real stories from a regional town in NSW but with many parrallels to what is happening across the country and the Sunshine Coast.

“More and more people who would never have been homeless before are sliding into couch-surfing, living in motels, and homeless providers who once focused on getting people into housing have resorted to handing out tents.

”We chose to focus in on one region to tell a much bigger story. And we tell it from the point of view of those who cannot get accommodation and the people who are are desperately trying to help them – often in vain.

”The stories of these stoic people who are just trying to find a roof to put over their children’s heads are incredibly moving.

”What struck us when we were filming is that these could be our sisters, our cousins, our friends. And how close so many of us are to not having a place to call home.”
