Council evicts vulnerable group from property amid housing crisis

A local Queensland council is evicting a group of vulnerable women in the middle of the housing crisis.

On her 32-acre property in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Jacqueline Morton is allowing people in need to park their tiny homes on her sprawling property.

"Well the main reason I'm passionate about it is I was faced with the thought of being homeless many many years ago, when my kids were young," Morton said.

Angela Smith is a single mother with two young boys who lives at the property in a tiny house she bought.

"We've got everything we need - lounge room, our kitchen, our bathroom and laundry. So we are entirely self-sufficient," Smith said.

"We have a grey water set up that is the same one the council uses."
